Boulder Creek Winery Live Music Wine Tasting Wine Classes Inspired by the successful re-establishment of Colorado’s wine industry, and intrigued by the idea of bringing that excitement to Boulder, owners Mike, Jackie, and son Will Thompson established Boulder Creek Winery in January of 2003.

Principal winemaker, Jackie Thompson, has a long-cultivated interest in wine production. Of French heritage, winemaking was a traditional home activity growing up in northern New England, and in 1981 she received a bachelor’s degree in Plant & Soil Science with a focus in wine grapes. After years of home wine production following by numerous classes in wine making and wine chemistry at UC Davis in California, Jackie assumed the role of Enologist and Principal Winemaker for Boulder Creek Winery.

Mike Thompson also brings extensive and varied wine experience to the company. A wine steward for the renowned Student Prince Restaurant in Springfield, MA in the late 1970’s, and a home brewer since the early 1980’s, Mike has also traveled the world extensively, experiencing wines of all types and styles from nearly all of the world’s major wine producing regions. An extensive knowledge of fine wines combined with a well-cultivated palate make Mike's sensory evaluation skills an integral part of Boulder Creek's winemaking process.

One of the great miracles of life is the ability of the grape to turn itself into wine. It is the only fruit capable of complete fermentation without the addition of water, sugar or yeast!

At Boulder Creek Winery, we honor this natural transformation by gently monitoring and controlling conditions that optimize the fruit’s natural fermentation and aging processes. We try to intervene just enough - but not too much - to facilitate the work of the grape.
